HBG wins Bristol grouped schools PFI

HBG has been named preferred bidder for Bristol City Council's £57.3m secondary schools PFI scheme.

HBG beat Jarvis and a jv of Ballast and Babcock & Brown to phase 1A of the Bristol grouped schools PFI project. The contractor will provide extensions to four schools in the city. Henbury Secondary School will be the first school to be completely rebuilt. Work will start in April or May next year and be completed by September 2005.

The other schools in the scheme are Monks Park, Bedminster Down and Portway Community Schools.

The maintenance period is 26 years. The council hoipes to reach financial close in March 2004.
