MAJOR EXTERNAL ENVELOPING AND REFURBISHMENT AT WEYBRIDGE POINT, WILDITCH
ESTATE, WANDSWORTH, LONDON SW11
Main contractors who can demonstrate extensive experience in the management
of complex multi-trade social housing refurbishment and who wish to be
considered to tender for the above works should submit their names to the
Chief Executive and Director of Administration, Room 110, The Town Hall,
Wandsworth High Street, London SW18 2PU by 31st October 2003.
The works comprise the principal phase of the overall regeneration of the
Wilditch Estate. The project will involve external enveloping, roof
renewal, new entrance extensions and internal improvements to a 15 storey

point block comprising 61 dwellings (one at ground level) located at
Sheepcote Lane SW11. The works will be carried out whilst the buildings are
fully occupied and will involve the following:-
(a) Full external overcladding and renewal of existing flats'
fenestration using double-glazed PVCu replacements.
(b) Provision of new glazed curtain walling to staircase and communal
lift lobby areas.
(c) Replacement of the existing flat roof covering.
(d) Construction of 3 self-contained flat units within the ground floor
storage and former boiler room/laundry areas.
(e) Works to upgrade disabled access to the block including overhaul of
the 2 lifts.
(f) Adaptations and extensions to the flats' central heating and
ventilation extract systems.
(g) Improvements to the security of the block including improved
entrances, CCTV and upgraded entry call systems.
(h) Provision of a new feature roof covering to the tank and lift motor
rooms.
(i) Associated repairs and redecorations to the communal areas of the
block including limited asbestos content material removal.
(j) Rewiring and lighting improvements to the communal areas.
Contractors will need to be adept in the management of specialist
sub-contractors and be able to demonstrate previous success in achieving
high standards of refurbishment quality with similar works.
It is anticipated that tenders will be sought in April 2004 and the
estimated value of the contract is circa £3 million.
All applicants must provide the following information with their application:-
(a) The full name of the company wishing to tender;
(b) the names and addresses of three technical referees, with details
of particular projects, who are able to provide a reference of the
applicant's competence in handling multi-discipline contracts;
(c) a copy of the company's latest audited accounts which should not be
more than 18 months old;
(d) the name and address of the company's banker;
(e) confirmation that the company possess insurance cover under Public
Liability up to a minimum of £5,000,000;
(f) a copy of the company's Construction Tax Industry Deduction
Certificate; and
(g) the name of the periodical in which this advertisement was seen.
In addition, if a company is shortlisted to tender they will be required to
submit a copy of their company's Policy Statement produced in accordance
with Section 2(3) of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
Applicants must refer only to the above mentioned scheme in their reply.
Accompanying applications for other advertisements placed by Wandsworth
Borough Council will be ignored. Late applications will not be considered.
