Truk to distribute Heil sliding-axle trailers
Bristol-based Truk has been appointed sole UK distributor for Heil
sliding-axle trailers.
The trailer's axles are hydraulically moved forward before loading
or unloading, lowering the rear of the body to the ground, thereby
removing the need for separate loading ramps.
With the most popular 14.8m trailer, sliding the axles takes a
couple of minutes (with hydraulic power via the truck's PTO or a
donkey engine) and the body forms a 6û angle with the ground.
In the running position the deck height is just under 1m, and the
trailer has a radio remote controlled hydraulic winch as standard.
The design capacity is 48t and it can carry a concentrated load of
31.7t over 3m.
There are no loading ramps to manhandle and the full width of the
trailer enables safer loading and unloading, said Truk managing
director Tony Jones.
Fuel economy is also said to improve as there are no ramps to
increase wind resistance and outriggers can be specified for
carrying over-width loads.
