Sir Robert McAlpine sues for damages over Lloyd's HQ
Sir Robert McAlpine is suing for damages over the £70m Lloyd's
Register of Shipping building.
The contractor is suing for an undisclosed sum for damages arising
from works carried out at Lloyd's headquarters at Fenchurch Street
in London, unspecified damages for breach of contract over the
works and damages for misrepresentation.
The contract for the massive project was originally agreed in
September 1996 but, according to a High Court writ, was amended by
a deed of variation in December 1997.
In September 2002, Lloyd's Register of Shipping sued Sir Robert
McAlpine in a row over time extensions for the project, which was
originally due for completion in August 1999. McAlpine's part of
the project was completed in March 2000.
Sir Robert McAlpine was unavailable for comment as CJ went to
press.
