Scottish civils firm George Leslie has been bought by its
management for an undisclosed sum.
New managing director John McNaught said the transition would be
seamless. "The approach is business as usual. Our key clients will
be dealing with the same people as before," he said.
The civils firm works for both public and private sector clients in
Scotland, but is prominent in the water sector, where it is
delivering a number of contracts for Scottish Water.
Leslie reported a £1.2m profit last year on a £20m
turnover. Approximately 75% of its work is in the water
sector.
The company is also planning to expand into other areas, including
marine works, road and bridge building, and railway work.
Former managing director George Leslie remains involved as
non-executive chairman.
<F03C> Scottish Water has advertised its small-value capital
projects framework contract.
The two-year framework contract is worth between £15m and
£20m a year and has an optional year-on-year extension for a
further four years. Four to six contractors are likely to be
selected. Work is divided into four areas with most projects under
the £100,000 mark.
Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) Scotland chief
executive Alan Watt said it was good news. "Scottish Water
consulted CECA extensively about the framework and we are pleased
that it has been presented in a way that may suit smaller local
contractors, which have not seen much work in the water sector
recently."
