LSC opens training centres
Two new construction training centres, funded by London West
Learning and Skills Council (LSC), have opened in west
London.
The centres are near Heathrow's T5 and the Wembley stadium
redevelopment.
The Heathrow Construction Training Centre is the brainchild of a
partnership led by BAA Heathrow and includes nearly £1m of
funding, over three years, from LSC.
The other centre, in Wembley, is the Carillion Craft Centre. The
contractor will deliver a range of modern apprenticeships to more
than 200 young people aged 16 to 24 during the next three years, in
carpentry and joinery, bricklaying and concrete dry lining.
Although Carillion is not involved on either T5 or Wembley Stadium,
the contractor will forge links with both projects to provide work
experience for the apprentices.
