Arup appoint new chairman

Arup Group has announced today (Tuesday) the appointment of Terry Hill as chair with effect from April 2004. Cecil Balmond will be deputy chair.

Hill, who is both an economist and civil engineer, joined the global firm of engineers, designers and planners, in 1976.

Twenty years later he became technical director with Union Railways, but in 1999 rejoined Arup to lead the firm's infrastructure division.

This division has been responsible for projects such as the UK's Channel Tunnel Rail Link and New York's 2nd Avenue Subway, as well as growing the firm's civil engineering, planning and consulting practices.
