Police quiz BAA manager over airport fraud
A BAA junior manager has been asked back for further questioning by
police as part of a fraud investigation into the handling of
maintenance contracts at Heathrow Airport.
The unnamed employee, labelled by police as Mr D, will be expected
to give further evidence to Heathrow police within the next two
weeks.
A further three men, Mr A, B and C - each in their 40s - have been
released on bail with the possibility of further questioning at a
later date.
Police are examining evidence that millions of pounds have been
siphoned out of £12m-worth of contracts.
One maintenance contractor, Heathrow-based Halliford Construction,
is at the centre of the investigation after computers and documents
were seized from its offices by police (CJ 9 July).
Halliford is adamant that it has nothing to fear from the
investigation and has co-operated with police.
