HSE opens safety advice centre
The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and the Freight Transport
Association (FTA) have opened a workplace transport safety advice
centre.
The service operates via a dedicated number (08700 990099) from 9am
to 5pm, Monday to Friday and FTA advisors will give guidance and
advice to vehicle operators, drivers and those responsible for site
safety.
The centre is part of a project to identify areas of most concern
to employees and employers to help the HSE target resources. It is
designed to run for one year.
Workplace transport is the second biggest cause of fatal incidents
in UK workplaces, with the majority of incidents divided into four
common types: vehicle strikes; overturns; falling people; and
falling objects.
