The UK's first 17m Bobcat telehandler has been delivered to Buxton
Lime Industries in Derbyshire. It will be used for materials
handling and maintenance tasks. It has a crane and fly jib, winch,
pallet forks (with side shift), bucket and man platform.
The unit has a new boom that pivots at the very rear of the machine
allowing it to lift 2.5t to 17.43m with a forward reach of more
than 2m.
Bobcat said the T40170 is the only 17m telehandler that can lift
above 17m with or without stabilisers. Its lifting capacity at
maximum reach (13.67m) is 560kg.
Loughborough-based Bobcat dealer Butler Reynolds delivered the unit
and attachments, which allow many on-site tasks to be carried out
by one person. Bobcat's radio-control system allows a number of
these jobs to be done remotely.
The crane and fly jib attachments allow the T40170 to be used as a
4t crane, reducing the need to hire in a crane.
The man platform is suitable for maintenance work and can be
rotated 90¼ right or left. It can accommodate several workers
and eliminates the need for scaffolding and safety nets, said the
company.
