Corporate killing bill "unlikely" to be mentioned in Queen's speech

A bill on corporate killing is "unlikely" to be announced in today's (Wednesday) Queen's Speech, according to the TGWU.

However, the union's national secretary Bob Blackman told CJ that there should be mention of legislation on corporate liability, which will see companies made more liable for negligence.

"The problem with this bill is that you can't jail a company, but you can a director," said Blackman. "We will be using our own private members' bill to push this message home and try to make directors more culpable for their actions."

TGWU's bill is now currently resting with the Prime Minister, awaiting his decision.
