Bardon opens £2.5m asphalt plant

Following a £2.5m investment, Bardon Aggregates has officially opened its new Asphalt Plant in Grangemouth today (Thursday).

Capable of manufacturing over 100 tonnes of macadam per hour and 60 tonnes of asphalt, the plant has exceeded all expectations having supplied 50,000 tonnes of product to the local market since its non-official opening in March this year.

The plant will serve both the collect and delivery markets in Stirling, Falkirk, Grangemouth and Fife.

A new hot storage facility located at the plant is an added bonus for the collect market, allowing for orders to be made, stored and collected first thing, said the company.

Asphalt material produced at the plant will be supplied to Falkirk District Council under a three-year contract and the high-tech on-site recycling facility will be available to them as part of a joint initiative with the company to recycle asphalt planings, ensuring that the facility is at the forefront of good sustainable practice.
