Solideal buys Mai spa

Solideal, a leading producer of construction equipment tyres, wheels and tracks, has acquired Mai spa of Italy, a manufacturer of rubber tracks for an undisclosed sum.

Solideal will relocate the Mai moulds and related machinery from Italy to a new 10,000m2 facility in Sri Lanka, and production is planned to begin in March 2004.
The factory will have an annual capacity of over 100,000 tracks, the company claims.

Commenting on the acquisition, Solideal's chairman Pierre Pringiers said: "The potential for development is enormous, we are currently undertaking a research programme to determine the best way to utilise the Mai track system."
