Willmott Dixon has won £15m of work in the education sector with contracts to extend a school in Kent and build a new sixth form in the London Borough of Lewisham.
The first, for the Homewood School, is worth £8m and involves building a new library, teaching block, sports hall extension and additional parking facilities at the school. Starting on site is due in February on a construction programme scheduled to take 72 weeks.
The second, at Crossways Academy, is £7m deal for Lewisham which involves building a new sixth form to be completed in August 2004 that amalgamates four existing sixth forms into a modern, new facility.
Mark Tant, who heads up Willmott Dixon's South London construction business that will carry out the work said: "It's pleasing to be awarded this major contract so soon after the creation of our new business unit to target opportunities south of the Thames.
"We have a good track-record in education projects across the
South East and are looking forward to building on this reputation
in Kent as well as continuing our strong relationship with
Lewisham."
