Aquatrine delayed
A decision on a preferred bidder for the final package of the
Ministry of Defence's (MoD) £1.1bn Project Aquatrine has been
postponed until the New Year.
An announcement on Package B of the PPP was originally due by the
year-end, but is now not likely until January at the
earliest.
Two consortia are in the running to provide water and wastewater
services for Scotland: Brey Utilities (Yorkshire Water Services,
Earth Tech Engineering and Halliburton Brown & Root) and Nevis
Water (Thames Water and Scottish Water). A spokesman for Defence
Estates gave no reason for the delay.
Package A was awarded to Brey Utilities in April 2003, while the
C2C consortium was selected for Package C, covering the north and
east of England.
