Essex advertises £127m PFI hospital scheme

Essex Rivers Healthcare Healthcare NHS Trust wants contractors to bid for its £127m PFI Colchester hospital scheme.

The project will involve the centralisation and reconfiguration of acute health services currently provided at Colchester General Hospital, Essex County Hospital and Severalls Hospital and three other sites in Colchester.

The Trust expects services currently provided at the Essex County Hospital and Severalls Hospital will be transferred to a facility at the Colchester General Hospital site.

The capital cost is £127m. Building works are expected to begin in September 2005. The maintenance period is 30 years. 

Invitations to tender are due in by 11 March 2004.
