A new anti-theft tracking system for plant equipment has been
launched in the UK.
The QuikTrak QT6070 is a covert security device that provides
real-time tracking and alarm monitoring, using the patented Spread
Spectrum radio technology. It was originally launched in the UK in
September to cover the M25 area, but by 2006 the network will have
been expanded to cover the entire country, the company said.
The network was designed for military applications by British
Aerospace Australia, but has been adapted for plant.
The device features a motion sensor that detects unauthorised
movement of a machine and, in the event of it being stolen, the
exact location can be viewed within seconds on a detailed digital
map at a 24hr monitoring centre.
QuikTrak chairman Chris Kyriakou said: "Until now, there has not
been a secure and reliable tracking product suitable for plant.
"This system allows owners to effectively locate their machinery
for either fleet management or security purposes," Kyriakou added.
