Skanska chief introduces a more tight-knit management

Skanska UK has a "more tight-knit" senior management team following changes introduced by chief executive David Fison last week.
"I inherited a large board," said Fison. "Ten was a difficult number to get the drive through. Seven is better. We've been working to get more integrated and the time had come to force that a bit further by grouping the businesses more."
No longer at the top table are Dave Shadwell (building), Alan Tweddle (civil engineering) and Jim Kirkwood (technology). Tweddle will leave the group at the end of the year, but will continue as a consultant.
Simon Hipperson will represent both PFI and technology at board meetings, while Mike Putnam's expanded remit covers civil engineering and specialist businesses. Peter Coote will carry final responsibility for building as well as M&E.

The remaining trio on the board have the same responsibilities as before: John Keehan (finance); Trisha Jones (human resources); and Mark Galloway (legal).
A industry source said: "The changes suggest where Skanska will move in the future and that may be further into PFI. If Fison gets promoted to vice president and moves to Sweden, the message from this is that the two jockeying for his present position would be Hipperson and Putnam. Skanska likes to promote from within, and Fison is very much part of that ethos."
