John Laing, in joint venture with Sodexho, has been named prefered bidder for North Staffordshire Hospitals NHS Trust £350m PFI scheme.
The job involves building a new acute hospital on the University Hospital of North Staffordshire's City General site and a new community hospital for North Stoke Primary Care Trust on the Haywood and Stanfield sites.
Laing beat Carillion. The group expects to reach financial close by the end of September 2004. The maintenance period will run for 30 years from completion.
Meanwhile John Laing has also joined the Skanska/Innisfree consortium that was recently named preferred bidder for the £620m scheme to redevelop Barts Hospital and the Royal London Hospital.
