Amey and Laing Roads have been awarded a £120 public and street lighting contract by Wakefield Metropolitan District Council.
The 25-year PFI contract will include the replacement or upgrading of 41,000 street lights, as well as general maintenance works.
The management, design, installation and ongoing repair and maintenance of the council's entire lighting stock will be undertaken by Amey Highways. Laing Roads is part of John Laing plc, the leading PPP/PFI infrastructure investor.
The Wakefield deal is the second of its kind for the Amey/Laing team following the award the Walsall street lighting contract in March 2002. The duo are also preferred bidder for the Manchester City Council public lighting project..
