Lovell team up with housing association to regenerate Manchester

Affordable housing developer Lovell and Irwell Valley Housing Association have launched a new £5.5m housing regeneration scheme in Manchester.

Working in partnership with Irwell Valley, Lovell is demolishing 36 flats - a two-storey block and maisonettes - in Sale, and building 53 brand-new houses and flats.

The existing homes, originally built in 1972, are being demolished to make way for a wider range of homes for the increasing number of people wishing to move in to the area.

The new development will create eight houses for shared ownership sale, through Irwell Valley Housing Association, and 39 houses and six flats for sale on the open market.

Lovell has already begun work on the demolition process and is set to start work on the new homes in the spring.

The two-year scheme is part of the ongoing regeneration of the area by Irwell Valley.  It follows Irwell Valley's completion of a £30m, three-year programme of extensive internal and external refurbishment work to 1,400 homes following a stock transfer from Manchester City Council in March 2000.
