EMERGENCY STABILISATION WORKS AND MAIN SCHEME STABILISATION WORKS
Expressions of interest are sought from contractors with a proven
expertise in the underground and surface stabilisation of mine
workings.
Bath & North East Somerset Council wish to appoint contractors to
carry out stabilisation works within the 18 hectares of abandoned
mine workings beneath the village of Combe Down and environs.
Expressions of interest are sought from contractors having experience
in the stabilisation of mine workings mainly undertaken from
underground and who can demonstrate an ability to work in an
environmentally sensitive area with an active local community and in

close contact with the client, designer, mine management team and
other stakeholders.
These details are published in the OJEC Publication Official Journal
on 27 November 2003 with reference number 204632-2003.
The Council may wish to appoint a contractor for the whole of the
emergency and main scheme works or let the two packages separately.
The Council may also let a separate enabling works package for site
infrastructure works. Contractors should indicate which of the three
packages they are interested in tendering for.
Emergency works have been carried out for the past 2.5 years and are
anticipated to be required to be continued into the summer of 2005.
