Refurbishment work - London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham

TENDERS ARE TO BE SOUGHT FOR MAJOR EXTERNAL AND
INTERNAL REFURBISHMENT OF COUNCIL-OWNED
RESIDENTIAL TOWER BLOCKS
The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham will
be seeking tenders for the external and internal
refurbishment of three tower blocks within the
Borough.
The blocks are: Barton House, Townmead Estate,
London SW6, a 19 storey block containing 76
flats, and Edith Summerskill and Herbert Morrison
Houses, Clem Attlee Estate, London SW6 -  each a
17 storey block containing 68 flats.
The scope of the works is likely to comprise:
kitchen and bathroom renewals; renewal of the
central drainage stacks and removal of Garchey
systems; window and front and balcony door
renewals; external repairs; external and communal

redecorations and renewal of roof coverings.
Central heating and boiler replacement, rewiring
and installation of controlled access systems may
also be included. The blocks will be partially
decanted whilst the works are underway.
It is likely that the works will be let via two
separate contracts - one for Barton House, at an
estimated value of £2m, and one for Edith
Summerskill and Herbert Morrison Houses, at an
estimated total value of £4m. Both contracts are
expected to commence in October 2004, with Barton
House completing in August 2005 and Edith
Summerskill and Herbert Morrison Houses
completing in May 2006.
Applicants who wish to be considered for the
tender list are required to complete a
pre-qualification questionnaire satisfactorily.
This asks for information on bidders' financial
standing, resources, technical competence,
quality management systems, experience,
performance and health and safety record.
