£13m town centre scheme given the green light

A £13m scheme to transform Blackburn town centre has today (Wednesday) been given the green light after receiving funding from the Northwest Development Agency.

The project, which forms part of a five year plan, will involve the reclamation of derelict land for a mixed-use development and the improvement of key public spaces throughout the whole of the town centre.

Work will also include the upgrading of key historical buildings and the creation of high-quality retail developments.
