Parkview, which has taken responsibility for the redevelopment
of Battersea Power Station in London, has appointed technical and
management consultancy Babtie Group to advise on transport for the
£750m project.
The transport strategy has been designed to accommodate the daily
travel needs of visitors and site workers, ensuring they have a
quality journey experience by whichever mode of transport they
choose.
Plans for the site of the former power station comprise two five
star hotels with more than 1000 rooms, conference facilities, a
theatre/auditorium, office and residential accommodation.
The listed power station with its distinctive chimneys will offer
leisure, entertainment, restaurants, cafes and bars.
Parkview chief executive Michael Roberts said: "Following a
number of rigorous accessibility assessments, a sophisticated
multi-modal transport plan will be implemented prior to the
development being completed.
"It involves an innovative traffic scheme, new pedestrian walkways,
a major upgrade of Battersea Park Station and other tangible
improvements to the local transport infrastructure."
