Carillion's £100m road project win
Carillion has beaten off five rivals, including an in-house
contracting team, to take a highways maintenance deal worth nearly
£100m in the Midlands.
The contract, with Warwickshire County Council, is worth £14m
a year and will run for seven years.
Other contractors hoping to land the prize deal were McAlpine,
Colas, Raynesway, Nuttall and the present incumbent - the council's
in-house team, Warco.
The council also shortlisted Ringway to pitch for the scheme. But
the contractor dropped out, citing work overload as the
reason.
Carillion's task will be to deal with around 3,800km of local
authority highway.
The scope of the work includes resurfacing, structural repairs,
patching, streetlighting and gully emptying.
