Bath council investigates Spa solutions

Bath & North East Somerset Council is set to narrow down its options for remedial work on the troubled Bath Spa project.

Councillor Nicole O'Flaherty said: "Over the last months the team has been investigating up to six different options for completion of the surfacing of the pool. These have now been narrowed down, and we will continue with detailed testing in the forthcoming weeks.

"Following final tests, the project team and consultants' next key target is to fully cost and then commission the solution which best meets the key criteria of quality and reliability."

Warings is close to completing the paint removal process.

In O'Flaherty's latest udate on the project, she points the ultimate finger of blame for the paint problems at Sir Nicholas Grimshaw & Partners: "The type of finish, the material and the specification for applying the finish is the responsibility of the council's appointed lead architect, Grimshaw."

She dismissed local worries that there may be structural problems with the building, but added: "There are still a number of snagging issues which could, if left unresolved, prevent practical completion. Completion works will be programed once the major issue of the pool finishes has been commissioned."
