ARCA website to help firms comply with asbestos law

The Asbestos Removal Contractors Association (ARCA) and ATaC, its asbestos testing and consulting division, have launched a new website to help clients find reputable local asbestos surveyors and removal contractors.

The launch is perfectly timed as it offers practical advice on how all firms can have an asbestos management plan in place by May 2004 to comply with the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002.

ARCA chief executive Terry Jago said: "In the event that you need to select and asbestos surveyor or an asbestos removal contractor you will need assurances that you are specifying a reputable company that employs well-trained staff who comply with current legislation and won't put your reputation at risk.

"This new website will enable clients to select member companies in their area".

ARCA operates a strict policy of full compliance to all new legislation through their code of conduct and site audit scheme.

Jago continued: "The selection of a poorly trained company could result in endangering the public, your employees and your organisation.

"Just one incident can destroy a previously impeccable safety record and embarrass a company financially with legal fees and substantially increased contract completion costs - not to mention the risk to lives.

"By using ARCA members, firms can get the assurance of well-trained experts working to the highest standards at all times"
