Amec Spie Rail, the rail business of the international engineering services group Amec is to open three new regional offices across the UK.
The move is designed to secure the company a central role in the UK rail industry, following the decision in July by Network Rail to move all UK rail maintenance in house.
"We believe local offices will enable us to offer Network Rail better support under the new regime," said Amec Spie rail business development director Barry Atkinson.
"High-profile safety and wider concerns mean Network Rail needs to be confident it has the right skills. We anticipate there will be an important role for private sector companies, even though contracts are now in house."
The new offices in Scotland, the north east and west of England will complement those already operating in the south and north west.
