Jon Rouse has been appointed the new chief executive of the Housing Corporation after four years in the same role at the Commission of Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE).
Under Rouse's leadership CABE's remit and influence has grown to embrace the design and maintenance of parks and public space, alongside a core programme of practical advice and public campaigns to inspire the creation of great public buildings nationwide.
Rouse said: "As the recent Barker Review has demonstrated, we need more affordable homes and we need to act quickly to build quality homes that will last. I look forward to working with the Board, the staff, and our many partners to deliver the Government's ambition that everyone should have access to a decent home."
Sir Stuart Lipton chairman of CABE added: "Rouse has transformed our agenda from one rooted in the fine arts to one championing an holistic understanding of the ability of great architecture and design to change fundamentally people's quality of life."
