Products association seeks government meeting over Germany standards delay

The Construction Products Association has written to Lord Sainsbury at the Department for Trade and Industry (DTI) and Phil Hope at the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) to seek a joint meeting on the continuing problems with Germany and delays to European standards.

While officials in both departments have been helpful, the association believes that political pressure needs to be brought to bear on Germany.

Along with delays to clay masonry unit standards previously announced by the Commission following German pressure, there are now concerns that the previously agreed standards on wood panels will be delayed.
