Millions of pounds worth of work up for grabs from Glasgow Housing Association


Glasgow Housing Association has advertised a raft of contracts worth millions of pounds in total for work on the city's council houses.

The association is the registered social landlord responsible for the management of approximately 80,000 homes. It has divided its investment programme into a number of works packages. All are for an initial period of three years, with a variety of extension period depending on the contract.

The major works packages are as follows:

  • Roofing and external cladding - £55m to £60m a year up to a maximum of seven years.
  • Kitchen and bathroom refurbishment - £20m to £25m a year up to a maximum of seven years.
  • New house construction - £15m to £20m per year up to a maximum of five years.
  • Electric rewiring - domestic - £15m to £18m per year up to a maximum of seven years.
  • Common element improvements to multi-storey blocks - £9m to £10m per year up to a maximum of seven years.

Other contracts ranging from £750,000 to £5m a year include: common element improvements to T84 blocks; demolition of low rise and multi-storey properties; common area improvements; environmental repairs and improvements; doors to flats; doors to houses; common electrical services upgrading; lift replacement; and common mechanical services upgrading.

The association has not decided how many contractors it will appoint to each works contract as yet.
