AGD leader rigs on site

UK piling specialist AGD Equipment has hired out two RG16T telescopic leader rigs with Eurodrill double head drilling systems to Dawson-Wam for its Quinn Glass factory project in Cheshire.
The machines are being used to install 406mm diameter cased piles to a depth of 8m, with the final 3m into sandstone yielding 1,000kN load bearing capacity.
The Caterpillar C16 engines fitted to the leader rigs provide the rotary heads with a maximum torque of 6.2tm for the casings, and 4.2tm for the auger.
According to Robert Law, AGD equipment sales manager, Dawson-Wam has 9,000 piles to install, which will keep the rigs busy for the next few months.
