Kier Scotland wins £9.2m mill conversion contract

Kier Scotland, part of the Kier Group, has been awarded a £9.2m contract to convert the Anchor Mill, a disused mill in Paisley, into luxury apartments for Persimmon Homes.

Sixty residential apartments, ranging from one to three bedrooms on the top three floors, commercial space on the first floor and parking on the ground floor will be constructed.

Built in 1886, this building is now one of the great remaining mills left in Paisley and has a category A listed status. Many of the building's original features will be preserved and incorporated into the overall conversion.

Special measures will be taken to ensure that all traces of asbestos and lead paint are removed before internal work begins.

The project is scheduled for completion in December 2004.
