Combisafe wins safety award

Fall-safety systems supplier Combisafe has won this year's Beaumont Trophy awarded by the Construction Health and Safety Group for the greatest contribution to health and safety in the industry.

The judging panel said it was very impressed with Combisafe's safety device, the Safety Net Fan (SNF), launched in 2003.

The SNF is designed to arrest falls of both people and objects from buildings but also protect the workforce and pedestrians at ground level.

"In contrast to traditional scaffolding fans, the SNF is designed to cushion the impact of a fall, partly by the elasticity of the net and partly by the frame itself. It's also safe, easy and quick to erect and dismantle. Assembled on the ground and lifted into position by crane, this also reduces the need for the hazardous job of installation. Finally, by using SNF's, companies don't have to build costly pedestrian tunnels or walkways," said Combisafe.

Combisafe's managing director Bengt Rolén said: "We have built fall-arrest systems on hundreds of thousands of sites across Europe over the last 20 years but I'm delighted that our efforts in the area of health and safety had been officially recognised by this award in the U.K."
