AP Webb buys £1.2m depot
Specialist plant hirer AP Webb has invested £1.2m in a 1.2ha
depot near Stafford. The unit has 630m2 of office space and a
1,331m2 six-bay workshop.
JCB chairman and managing director Sir Anthony Bamford performed
the official opening of the depot, which is a short distance from
the manufacturer's headquarters in Rocester.
AP Webb is one of the biggest plant suppliers to the rail industry
and has more than 80 operators and its own training school with
three full-time instructors.
AP Webb also owns Rail-Ability, the specialist steel fabrication
and engineering business that builds the Track Access System
sections and the Rail Boss - a 4WD prime mover with a variety of
interchangeable bodies. It is working on a successor to the Rail
Boss, based on a rigid chassis version of JCB's 714 ADT.
