Nixon Hire buys new kit in plan to boost turnover

Newcastle-based hirer John Nixon (Nixon Hire) said it has embarked on a five-year expansion plan to double its turnover to £20m.
In pursuit of this goal it has invested £2.5m in new equipment this year.
The company has a fleet of more than 28,000 items and has been completely restructured over the past two years.
Last year it achieved an average breakdown response time of only one hour and it will start to measure its delivery response in the same way, according to director of plant Chris Nixon.
More than 100 procedures have been introduced to ensure the company and its customers operate within the law and it has appointed a dedicated health and safety officer.
This latest phase of investment has resulted in the addition of 35 Volvo mini excavators, 57 dumpers, 64 anti-vandal welfare units, Bomag rollers and plates, Amman lighting towers and Ingersoll Rand super silent generators.
A further six trucks have also been added to the transport fleet: three Iveco Strallis fitted with Palfinger cranes and three toilet service trucks.
