Caterpillar said it will unveil six new Tier 3/Stage IIIa compliant engines for the industrial and off-highway market at Bauma, adding to the C18 engine launched last year.
The new seven-strong C-series engines have power ratings from
89kW to 585kW and feature
the company's Acert technology concept.
According to Charles Wills, Caterpillar's industrial power systems marketing manager, Acert technology has already been successfully tested with 50,000 on-highway engines already in use. "The new engines give better performance than other emission compliant units by precisely controlling the combustion cycle via air-management, electronics and improved fuel systems," he said.
Caterpillar claimed Acert technology will allow for a seamless transition to future Tier 4/Stage IIIb requirements by utilising more features already used on its on-highway engines. The engines will go into full production in July.
The company will also use Bauma, which takes place in Munich
between 29 March and 4 April, to launch the K-series of bucket tips
and adapters and the System One undercarriage, designed for
track-type tractors and loaders.
