The Fire Sprinklers Association (FSA) has
today (Friday) congratulated the Scottish Executive on its decision
to mandate sprinklers in high-risk housing.
Subject to forthcoming consultation, high rise blocks of flats,
residential care buildings and sheltered housing in Scotland will
be required to have sprinklers fitted from 1 May 2005.
"This new law will save untold lives and injuries each and every
year for ever more," said the FSA.
"We now urge Westminster to introduce similar legislation for the
rest of the country without further delay," it added.
