Carillion to build 48-storey Hilton hotel in Manchester

Carillion has negotiated a deal with the Beetham Organisation to build the UK's tallest residential building.
The £52m Manchester Hilton hotel will hit the skyline at 48 storeys, making it the tallest structure outside London.
The city centre scheme involves the design and construction of a hotel complex, the main tower featuring a small leisure centre and hotel bedrooms to level 22.
Other levels include a bar and plant room, plus apartments.
Carillion starts on site next month, with the 122-week programme giving a completion date of August 2006.
