Debut wins £480m MoD South West prime work


Debut Services (South West), a joint venture between Babcock International Group and Bovis Lend Lease, has been awarded the £480m contract for the Ministry of Defence (MoD)'s Regional Prime Contract covering its estate in the South West.
This follows successful conclusion of discussions with the consortium which was appointed as preferred bidder in November 2003.
The jv will be responsible as the Prime Contractor for the delivery of capital works and property maintenance at more than 120 MoD sites throughout the South West region encompassing Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Avon, parts of Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Hampshire.
Starting on 1 June, Babcock will provide a comprehensive building and maintenance service to improve the overall condition of the estate, while Bovis Lend Lease will manage the capital works programme.
The contract will run for an initial seven years, with an MoD option to extend it to 10 years.
