Stepnell favourite to win £10m PFI deal
Stepnell looks set to clock up a PFI win at its first attempt in
the sector.
Sources say the Rugby-based contractor is emerging as the most
likely to clinch the £10m-plus Whitecross High School scheme
in Herefordshire.
The only other bid on the table is from King Sturge, which now has
Costain and Mitie as its partners in place of its original
contractor - failed firm Ballast.
A third contender, Kajima, pulled out of the contest.
The district council is expected to name its preferred bidder
within the next two weeks - five months behind its original
deadline.
The job involves building a new high school for 900 students.
n Stepnell has also won a £6.9m deal to design and build the
Cynthia Spencer/Favell House respite home in Northampton.
Its rivals for the contract were Gleeson, Marriott and local firm
Pettifer.
The client is the Daventry and South Northampton Primary Care
Trust.
