A McAlpine sees off A63 competition

Alfred McAlpine has held off four rivals to clinch a £22.5m Highways Agency deal in east Yorkshire.
The scheme is aimed at improving safety and reducing congestion on the A63 at Melton, and work is due to start on the site in August for completion in spring 2006. The scheme includes roundabouts, bridges and two link roads. Sources describe the job as "design and construct, but following the early contractor involvement route".
Costain, Skanska, Balfour Beatty and Birse also priced
the deal.
