Nuttall and Mowlem to share rail work
Two contractors have won a year's extension to their structures
framework rail contracts in Scotland.
The deal, known as the Scottish Territory project, means that
Edmund Nuttall and Mowlem will share £30m worth of work for
Network Rail.
Since 2000, the work has been divided between Nuttall, Mowlem and
Carillion.
However, in a competitive tender exercise for the extension scheme,
Carillion failed to make the cut, along with Amec and Kier.
The contract includes work on bridges, tunnels, cuttings and
embankments throughout Scotland.
It is understood that Network Rail now plans to let the framework
project on a 10-year basis and that contractors will be invited to
prequalify for this deal later this year.
