Countryside wins £8.9m homes development contract

Countryside Properties has been awarded a further phase of the Millennium Plus scheme at the Nightingale Estate in Hackney which will provide 64 new affordable homes.

This brings the total number of homes under contract to 240 on the proposed 600 home development.  As in previous phases, the innovative tunnel form construction method will be used to build the new homes.

The two, three and four-storey homes are being designed by Watkins Gray International and built for Southern Housing Group and Southern Housing Home Ownership.

"Our partnership with Hackney Council and the Nightingale residents enables us to build high quality homes and bring long-term benefits to all parts of the community," said Jill Beaver, development project manager for Southern Housing Group.

Infrastructure work has already started and construction will start in late April 2004.
