Six outfits are chasing a scaled-down highways term maintenance
deal for Lincolnshire County Council.
Aggregate Industries, Lafarge, Mowlem, RMC, Tarmac and the
council's in-house team LCR have thrown their hats into the ring
for a project now worth up to £42m over six years.
The scheme, known as the principal route network (PRN) framework
deal, originally weighed in at up to £90m over the same
period. But the project was then readvertised with up to £48m
lopped off the original value.
At the time, a council source said: "Someone was over-optimistic
about the amount of money available from detrunking. The resources
needed to be spread wider than was thought at first."
The PRN project is going forward under the early contractor
involvement banner and involves carriageway resurfacing and
reconstruction work on principal routes in Lincolnshire.
Initially, the deal will run for at least three years, but there
are three options to extend it for up to six years.
