Prefabrication set to double offsite by 2010

The offsite fabrication market is set to double in size to
£1.6bn by 2010, according to a report from the Building
Services Research and Information Association (BSRIA).
The market grew from £688.1m in 2001 to £800.9m in 2002 and is expected to achieve a compound annual growth rate of 9.7% through to 2010.
Lack of suppliers, higher cost and a lack of in-house expertise were cited as perceived barriers to the take-up of offsite
prefabrication.
