Goodyear's low profile wows hirer
Low profile tyres are paying dividends for plant hirer Alf
Kitching. The company ordered two Volvo A35Ds with low profile
Goodyear tyres (800/65R29 GP-4D) and director Paul Kitchen expects
these to last 40% longer than the 7,500 hours experienced on its
other machines.
During the two and a half years since the machines were delivered,
they have been used on a variety of work, including quarrying, in
steelworks and on landfill. The spare tyre ordered at the same time
as the trucks remains unused.
Furthermore, in back-to-back tests, one of Kitchen's most
experienced operators tried machines fitted with the low profile
tyres and the standard fitment and remarked on the improved comfort
with the new tyres.
