HBG sentencing over fatality delayed by a week

The sentencing of HBG Construction Southern Limited, formerly known as Kyle Stewart (1989) Limited, following a fatality in 1997, has been delayed by a week.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is prosecuting HBG Construction Southern following an incident on a construction site at 33 Old Broad Street, London EC2 on 21 February 1997 and was due to pass sentence today (Friday).

Osman Kamara, an agency labourer, died after being struck on the head by the 190kg concrete lintel and HBG Construction Southern pleaded guilty to breaching Section 3(1) of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 at Southwark Crown Court on Monday 22 March 2004.

But the same court has adjourned and will now be deliberating this case until 30 April.
