Willmott Dixon has been given the green light by Places for People for the £18m contract to build a mixed-tenure housing scheme at Broughton Atterbury, near Milton Keynes.
The 219-unit comprises houses and apartments, with a proportion for private sale and the rest at affordable rents. Willmott Dixon must complete the scheme by March 2005. The development will be built using timber frames (from PACE) and cassette floors.
The project, funded by the Housing Corporation's Challenge Fund, will become a showcase for the Eco Home standard. Materials must come from sustainable, environmentally friendly sources and the design encompasses features like rainwater harvesting.
